College Courses / Dual Enrollment
Once you’re 16 (or 15 at select colleges), you can take classes at your local community college. Baker Early College covers up to 12 credits per term and gives you a textbook stipend. You’ll earn both high school and college credit, and many students finish their associate’s degree while still earning their HS diploma. Plus, your counselor will guide you every step of the way, helping you pick classes and create a plan that fits your goals.

Baker Early College partners with nine community colleges across the state of Oregon. Students often enroll in one of our community college partners nearest to them. Rural students can enroll in one of our partner colleges that offers robust online options.
Students can work closely with their Baker Early College counselor to determine whether taking a higher credit load is the right choice for them. Any additional credits taken at the community college must be paid for by the individual student/family.
Yes. For college courses, you very well may have other high-school-aged students in your classes, but you will definitely have adults as classmates as well. It’s important to note that class content might also be mature at times, since it is being taught in a college setting.
Dual Credit
These college-level classes earn students college (and high school) credit, but don’t require students to attend their local college. Instead, these are taught in-house by Baker teachers, accredited by our partner colleges, and include only fellow Baker students. Classes meet weekly online and are hosted in Canvas. You’ll have support every step of the way — from applying and registering for the classes, to transferring the credit to your next college. Progress is tracked by students, parents, and Baker Early College. staff, ensuring guidance, accountability, and success.

Through our partnerships with Blue Mountain Community College, Eastern Oregon University, and Western Oregon University. In addition to your high school transcript, you will have an official college transcript from these schools that can be used to transfer credits to your future college.
Lots! We offer up to 60 college credits worth of Dual Credit courses. To see the full list of these classes and when they are offered, click here.
Due to the high course rigor, we generally advise students to take around 12 credits worth of Dual Credit courses per term. However, by demonstrating success in these courses and working closely with your Baker Early College counselor, you may be able to add additional Dual Credit courses to your schedule.
High School Options
Throughout your time at Baker Early College, you can take high school courses, which earn high school credit only. These online, asynchronous courses are ideal if you prefer not to take a full college course load, want a class not offered at your community college, or enroll at Baker Early College between college terms.

All core classes plus physical ed, health, world languages, work experience, and independent study are offered as high school options. Essentially, if it’s a high school graduation requirement, you can take it through our offerings.
A wide variety of our students utilize our high school level offerings! If you struggle in a certain subject area, if you prefer to slowly add college-level courses to your schedule, if you’re more likely to succeed by taking classes asynchronously (i.e. at your own pace) — these are all great reasons to consider one or more of our high school classes.
